Committee Questions, Comments, Concerns

  • Consider adding appropriate tree cover for these demolition packages.  There should be some effort to rebuild it or re-tree these vacant lots as a benefit and beautification to the neighborhood.
  • Does it make sense to keep the two commerical structures as "book ends" to preserve the block.
  • Suggest leaving this structure up at least thru the TLCI process.
  • Seems like it could be an easy win in terms of rehab/redevelopment for an incubator or new business to come in and reactivate this block.

Peggy Kearsey from GCDC is available to comment on the current redevelopment opportunities underway for this portion of Euclid Ave.  Would like to see additional housing or mixed-use.

Committee Questions, Comments, Concerns

  • Who has control of the building now?
  • What is the plan for Euclid Ave
  • Something needs to be done to improve these lots in the interim, more than just reseeding.
  • Are extremely concerned about demolishing another building in the city that holds a corner.

Jamar Doyle (GCDC) is available to provide additional context and support for the demolition.
